Mayor of Milan

A Milanese, born in 1958, with a degree in economics and business from Bocconi University, he has been an executive in companies of international standing, starting with Pirelli and Telecom Italia. In 2009, he assumed the position of General Manager of the City of Milan until his appointment as CEO of Expo 2015 S.p.A. in June 2010. In May 2013, he was appointed Sole Commissioner of the Government for Expo Milano 2015, a role held concurrently with that of CEO of the Company. His love for Milan and belief that he could work to make this city fairer, more international and welcoming led him to devote himself to politics. Since June 2016 he has been Mayor of the city of Milan. He is the author of the books, "Milan on Water. Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" (2014), "Milan and the Century of Cities" (2018), "Società per azioni" (2020), and "Letters from the Cities of the Future: building tomorrow's world today" (2021).
